Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spread sliced tomatoes evenly over the dough, followed by slices of fresh mozzarella. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Scatter fresh basil leaves on top.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the hot oven (or pizza stone) and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool for a couple of minutes, then slice and serve hot.
