Meatball Preparation

Make the Meatball Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

Form the Meatball
Using your hands, form the meat mixture into a ball about the size of a golf ball. Place the formed meatball on a plate and set aside.

Add Tomatoes and Season
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooking the Meatball

Cook the Meatball
Carefully add the meatball to the simmering marinara sauce. Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatball is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Serve and Garnish
Once the meatball is cooked, transfer it to a serving plate. Spoon marinara sauce over the meatball, then sprinkle with crumbled ricotta salata and top with micro basil.
