Method

Preparation of Pasta

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the mezzi rigatoni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.

Preparation of Sauce

  1. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 3

    Combine Marinara Sauce

Pour in the marinara sauce, and add dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Combine and Bake

  1. 4

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained mezzi rigatoni and the marinara sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

  2. 5

    Prepare Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with a little olive oil.

  3. 6

    Layer Ingredients

Pour half of the pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top. Add the remaining pasta mixture and top with the remaining cheese.

  4. 7

    Bake the Pasta

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnishing

  1. 8

    Add Fresh Basil

Once out of the oven, let the pasta bake cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
