Pasta Preparation
- 1
Make the Pasta Dough
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add eggs and olive oil. Gradually mix the flour into the eggs using a fork until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 3
Roll Out the Dough
After resting, divide the dough into four pieces. Roll each piece into thin sheets using a pasta machine or rolling pin. Cut into lasagna sheets.
Meat Sauce Preparation
- 4
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- 5
- 6
Combine Sauce Ingredients
Stir in canned tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cheese Mixture Preparation
- 7
Mix the Cheese
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth.
Assembly and Baking
- 8
Layer the Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, then a layer of pasta sheets, followed by a layer of cheese mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce and topping with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- 9
Bake the Lasagna
Cover the dish with aluminum foil (to prevent over-browning) and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 10
Let it Rest
Remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
