Method

Preparation of Croutons

  1. 1

    Prepare the Croutons

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the Tuscan bread into small cubes.

  2. 2

    Season and Bake

In a bowl, toss the bread cubes with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, garlic powder, dried oregano, and salt. Spread them evenly on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through.

Grilled Romaine

  1. 3

    Prepare the Lettuce

Wash and dry the romaine lettuce. Cut each head in half lengthwise.

  2. 4

    Grill the Lettuce

Brush the cut sides of the romaine with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat, and grill the lettuce halves cut-side down for about 2-3 minutes until grill marks appear and the lettuce is slightly wilted.

Making the Dressing

  1. 5

    Prepare the Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to create the dressing.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Combine and Serve

Once the grilled romaine is ready, place it on a serving platter. Drizzle the dressing over the lettuce, sprinkle with shaved Parmesan cheese, and add the crispy croutons on top. Serve immediately.
