Sides

Method

Sides

  1. 1

    Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the top off a whole head of garlic, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and roast for 30-35 minutes until soft. Meanwhile, peel and chop 2 lbs of potatoes, boiling them until tender. Drain, then mash in a bowl. Squeeze the roasted garlic into the potatoes, add 1/2 cup of cream, 1/4 cup of butter, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix until smooth and creamy.

  2. 2

    Steamed Broccoli

Fill a pot with a couple of inches of water and place a steamer basket over it. Bring the water to a boil. Cut 2 cups of broccoli into florets and add them to the steamer basket. Cover and steam for about 5-7 minutes until bright green and tender but still crisp. Season with salt and a squeeze of lemon juice.

  3. 3

    Honey Glazed Carrots

Peel and slice 2 cups of carrots into thin rounds. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the carrots, then drizzle with 2 tablespoons of honey. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are tender and glazed, adding a splash of water if necessary.

Sauces

  1. 4

    Creamy Herb Sauce

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of sour cream, 1/4 cup of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard. Chop a mix of fresh herbs (like parsley, dill, and chives) and add 2 tablespoons to the mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

  2. 5

    Spicy Tomato Salsa

Chop 2 medium tomatoes, 1/4 cup of red onion, and 1 jalapeño (seeds removed for less heat). Combine them in a bowl with 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro, juice of 1 lime, and salt to taste. Mix well and let sit for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  3. 6

    Garlic Butter Sauce

In a small saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter over medium heat. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and serve warm.
