Beer Ingredients
Method
Brewing Process
- 1
Mashing the Grains
In a large mash tun, combine the barley malt and corn with 20 liters of water. Heat the mixture to 65°C (149°F) and maintain this temperature for 60 minutes to allow the enzymes to convert starches into sugars.
- 2
Lautering
After mashing, transfer the mash to a lauter tun to separate the liquid wort from the solid grain. Rinse the grains with additional hot water to extract as much sugar as possible. Collect the wort for boiling.
- 3
Boiling the Wort
Bring the collected wort to a boil in a brew kettle. Once boiling, add the hops and continue to boil for 60 minutes. This process will add bitterness and flavor to the beer.
- 4
Cooling the Wort
After boiling, use a wort chiller to cool the wort quickly to around 20°C (68°F). This step is crucial to prevent any unwanted bacteria from contaminating the beer.
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and pitch the yeast. Seal the vessel and allow it to ferment at around 18-22°C (64-72°F) for 1-2 weeks, or until fermentation is complete.
- 6
Conditioning
Once fermentation is complete, siphon the beer into clean bottles or kegs, leaving sediment behind. Allow the beer to condition for an additional 1-2 weeks to develop carbonation and flavors.
- 7
Enjoying Your Miller Lite
After conditioning, chill the beer and serve it cold. Enjoy your homemade Miller Lite with friends!
