Meatballs and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatballs

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, ricotta cheese, chopped mushrooms, minced garlic, beaten egg, bread crumbs, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Drizzle olive oil over the meatballs and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

While the meatballs bake, heat the housemade marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and let them simmer for about 5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Serve

In a serving dish, layer the meatballs and sauce, then top with shredded mozzarella and grated Pecorino Romano. Serve warm.
