Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to ensure they cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch, resulting in crispier fries.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Remove the potatoes from the water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Carefully add a batch of potatoes to the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pot.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and paprika if desired.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
