Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Oven and Pan
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and frothy.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring gently until well combined.
- 5
Add Cocoa Powder and Salt
Sift the unsweetened cocoa powder and salt into the chocolate mixture. Fold gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 6
Bake the Torte
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- 7
Cool and Serve
Allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
