Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In another bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture along with olive oil. Knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.

Prepare the Filling
In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped onion, 2 cloves minced garlic, and 1 green bell pepper (chopped). Cook until softened. Add 1 pound of Italian sausage (cooked and crumbled), 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes, 1 tablespoon dried oregano, and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Assemble the Pizza
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out dough into a large circle and press into a greased 14-inch deep dish pizza pan. Layer with 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by the filling, and top with another cup of mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
- 4
Bake the Pizza
Bake in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
