Breadsticks
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, garlic powder, and dried Italian herbs. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Shape the Breadsticks
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long, thin stick (about 8-10 inches long).
- 4
Bake the Breadsticks
Place the shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 5
Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
