Method

Chill and serve

  1. 1

    Chill can (if needed)

If the can is not already cold, place the unopened 12 oz can in a refrigerator for at least 1–2 hours or in an ice bucket for 15–20 minutes. For faster chilling, submerge the can in ice mixed with water and a tablespoon of salt for 8–10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare glass

If serving over ice, fill a glass about two‑thirds full with ice cubes (approximately 1 cup). If serving straight from the can, no glass is required.

  3. 3

    Open can

Hold the can upright on a stable surface. Pull the tab to open the can fully. Tilt the can slightly into the glass (if using) to minimize foaming.

  4. 4

    Pour

Pour the soda slowly down the side of the glass to reduce foam. Stop when the liquid reaches about 1/2 inch (1 cm) below the rim to avoid overflow. If serving from the can, simply drink directly or pour into a chilled glass without ice.

  5. 5

    Add garnish (optional)

If desired, squeeze a lemon or lime wedge lightly over the top and drop it into the glass or rest it on the rim. Insert a short straw if preferred.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately while carbonated and cold. Discard any open, uneaten soda after 24 hours.
