Method

Prepare the Filling

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Let it Rest

Allow the apple mixture to sit for about 10 minutes. This will help the apples to release some of their juices.

Prepare the Topping

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

Stir in the melted butter and milk into the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Assemble and Bake

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Layer the Filling

Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

  3. 7

    Add Topping

Drop spoonfuls of the topping mixture over the apples. It doesn’t have to cover the apples completely.

  4. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.

Serve

  1. 9

    Cool Slightly

Remove from the oven and let the cobbler cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

  2. 10

    Add Garnish

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top if desired.
