Prepare the Coffee
Brew a fresh cup of strong coffee using your preferred method. Aim for a robust flavor to balance the sweetness of the sugar and the richness of the cream.

Mix Whiskey and Sugar
In a heatproof glass or an Irish coffee mug, combine the Irish whiskey and demerara sugar. Stir gently until the sugar is dissolved.

Combine Coffee
Pour the freshly brewed coffee into the glass with the whiskey and sugar mixture. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Add Cream
In a separate bowl, gently whip the heavy cream until it thickens but is still pourable. Carefully pour the cream over the back of a spoon to float it on top of the coffee mixture.

Garnish with Nutmeg
Sprinkle ground nutmeg on top of the cream for added flavor and aroma. Serve immediately while hot.
