Method

Turkey Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Turkey

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Rinse the whole turkey under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Season the Turkey

In a bowl, mix together olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, thyme, and lemon juice. Rub this mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin for maximum flavor.

  3. 3

    Roast the Turkey

Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the turkey occasionally with the pan juices.

  4. 4

    Rest and Pull the Turkey

Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. Then, using your hands or two forks, pull the turkey into bite-sized pieces.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 5

    Toast the Bread

If desired, lightly toast the bread slices in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread. Layer on the pulled turkey, followed by provolone cheese, lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and red onion slices.

  3. 7

    Top and Serve

Top with another slice of bread (mayonnaise side down). Press down gently, cut the sandwich in half, and serve immediately.
