Wet Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

  2. 2

    Prepare Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of milk, 2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth. Melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and mix it into the wet ingredients.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix. The batter will be slightly lumpy.

  2. 4

    Preheat and Grease Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

  3. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 6

    Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, top with 1 cup of fresh berries and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Garnish with mint leaves before serving.
