Method
Turkey Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Turkey
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Rub the turkey with olive oil, and season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
- 2
Roast the Turkey
Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for approximately 3 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Baste the turkey every hour with the drippings from the pan.
- 3
Rest and Pull
Once done, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes. Pull the turkey meat apart into shreds using two forks.
Coleslaw Preparation
- 4
Mix the Coleslaw
In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and carrots. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- 5
Combine
Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots. Toss well to coat evenly. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.
Sandwich Assembly
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the sub rolls in half. Spread a layer of mayo on each roll. Add a generous portion of the pulled turkey on the bottom half, followed by a slice of provolone cheese. Top with coleslaw and drizzle with Russian dressing.
- 7
Serve
Close the sandwiches and serve immediately, or wrap them in foil to keep warm until serving.
