Sweet Chili Sauce
Method
Tofu Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Tofu
Drain the firm tofu and press it between paper towels or a clean kitchen cloth to remove excess moisture. Allow it to sit for about 15-20 minutes.
- 2
Cut the Tofu
Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes or rectangles, depending on your preference.
- 3
Coat the Tofu
In a large bowl, mix the cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss the tofu pieces in the cornstarch mixture until they are evenly coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 5
Fry the Tofu
Carefully add the coated tofu pieces to the hot oil in a single layer. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- 6
Drain the Tofu
Once fried, transfer the crispy tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Sweet Chili Sauce
- 7
Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, and red chili flakes. Adjust the red chili flakes to your preference for spiciness.
- 8
Mix Well
Stir until all ingredients are well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
