Method
Turkey Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- 2
Prepare the Turkey
Remove the giblets from the turkey cavity and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- 3
Season the Turkey
In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and dried rosemary. Rub this mixture all over the turkey, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- 4
Roast the Turkey
Place the turkey in a roasting pan, breast side up. Roast in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Rest the Turkey
Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before pulling the meat apart.
Sandwich Assembly
- 6
Slice the Vegetables
While the turkey is resting, slice the tomato and onion thinly. Separate the lettuce leaves.
- 7
Pull the Turkey
Once the turkey has rested, use your hands or two forks to pull the meat apart into bite-sized pieces.
- 8
Assemble the Sandwich
On each slice of bread, spread a layer of mayonnaise. Add a generous amount of pulled turkey on one slice, followed by a slice of provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato slices, and onion slices. Top with another slice of bread.
- 9
Serve
Cut the sandwiches in half and serve immediately with your favorite side.
