Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Slice the ribeye steak thinly against the grain, about 1/4 inch thick. This will help in cooking and tenderness.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the onion and mushrooms thinly. If using, slice the sweet and hot peppers as well.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

In a large skillet or grill pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned and cooked through.

  2. 4

    Cook the Vegetables

Add the sliced onions and mushrooms to the skillet with the steak. If using, add the sweet and hot peppers as well. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Lower the heat to medium-low. Place the slices of white American cheese over the steak and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Cheesesteaks

Split the hoagie rolls open, and spoon the cheesesteak mixture into each roll. Serve hot and enjoy!
