Onion Rings
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. Gradually add the cold water and pear cider, stirring until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
