Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparing the Steak

Remove the KC Strip Steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes before cooking. This allows for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Seasoning the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides with kosher salt and black pepper. If using, crush the garlic and chop the herbs, then rub onto the steak.

  3. 3

    Preheating the Pan

Heat a cast iron skillet or heavy pan over high heat for about 5 minutes until it is very hot. Add olive oil to the pan.

  4. 4

    Cooking the Steak

Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the steak in the pan. Sear for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Resting the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

  6. 6

    Serving

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
