Mussels and Seasoning

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any debris. Remove beards if present and discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped shallots. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they are soft and fragrant.

  3. 3

    Add the Mussels

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and stir to combine with the aromatics. Pour in the white wine and sprinkle with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Cook the Mussels

Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 5-7 minutes, shaking the pot occasionally, until the mussels have opened up. Discard any mussels that remain closed.

  5. 5

    Finishing Touches

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Serve the sautéed mussels hot with crusty bread on the side.
