Method
Preparing the Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
In a bowl, rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Cook the Rice
After soaking, drain the rice. In a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel, steam the rice for about 30-40 minutes until it becomes tender and sticky.
Making the Coconut Sauce
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- 4
Mix with Rice
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour about 3/4 of the coconut sauce over the rice. Mix well and let it sit for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Preparing the Mango
- 5
Slice the Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin strips or wedges.
Serving
- 6
Plate the Dish
On a serving plate, place a generous portion of the sticky rice. Arrange the sliced mango on top or beside the rice.
- 7
Drizzle Coconut Sauce
Drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the sticky rice and mango.
- 8
Garnish
If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top and add fresh mint leaves for garnish.
