Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Cook the Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook according to package instructions, typically using a rice cooker or stovetop method. Use 2 cups of water for every cup of rice.

  2. 2

    Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture using a wooden spatula. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.

Preparation of Toppings

  1. 3

    Prepare Ahi Tuna

Cut the ahi tuna into ½ inch cubes. If desired, marinate it in a small bowl with soy sauce for 10 minutes.

  2. 4

    Slice the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Slice it into thin wedges.

  3. 5

    Prepare Cucumber

Peel the cucumber if desired and slice it into thin rounds or half-moons.

  4. 6

    Prepare Radishes

Wash and slice the radishes thinly.

  5. 7

    Prepare Green Onions

Wash and chop the green onions into small pieces.

  6. 8

    Combine Toppings

In a serving bowl, arrange the marinated tuna, avocado slices, cucumber, seaweed salad, sliced radishes, and chopped green onions. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

  7. 9

    Add Condiments

Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
