Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Pizza Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a small bowl, mix warm water and active dry yeast, letting it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt, then create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface. Transfer to a piece of parchment paper.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spread the crushed tomatoes over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Season with salt and pepper. Tear the mozzarella into pieces and distribute evenly over the sauce. Add the fresh basil leaves.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, slice, and serve hot. Enjoy your homemade Margherita Pizza!
