Brewing Instructions
1. Mashing
Combine barley malt with hot water in a mash tun and let it sit for 60 minutes at 65°C (149°F) to convert starches to sugars.
2. Lautering
Drain the liquid (wort) from the mash tun and rinse with additional hot water to extract more sugars.
3. Boiling
Boil the wort for 60 minutes, adding hops during the last 30 minutes for bittering and aroma.
4. Cooling
Cool the wort quickly to fermentation temperature (around 20°C or 68°F) using a wort chiller.
5. Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and add yeast. Allow it to ferment for 7-10 days until fermentation is complete.
6. Carbonation
After fermentation, carbonate the beer by adding a small amount of sugar and bottling it. Allow it to condition for another 1-2 weeks.
7. Enjoy
Chill the beer and serve in a glass. Enjoy your homemade Heineken!
