Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
- 2
Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and sea salt. Mix well until all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
Wet Mixture
- 3
Combine wet ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together milk, honey, and eggs until well combined. Melt the unsalted butter and let it cool slightly, then stir it into the wet mixture.
- 4
Combine wet and dry mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix. The batter should be slightly lumpy.
Baking
- 5
Bake the cornbread
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool
Once baked, remove the cornbread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
- 7
Serve with whipped butter
Cut the cornbread into squares and serve warm with whipped butter on the side. Enjoy!
