Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Old Bay seasoning. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much.
- 2
Prepare the Bread
Lay out the sourdough bread slices on a clean cutting board. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each bread slice.
- 3
Assemble the Sandwich
On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, evenly distribute the crab and cheese mixture. Place tomato slices on top of the crab mixture, then top with the other two slices of bread, buttered side out.
Cooking
- 4
Heat the Pan
In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of butter. Allow it to melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
- 5
Cook the Sandwich
Carefully place the assembled sandwich in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown. Flip the sandwich carefully and add another tablespoon of butter to the pan. Cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- 6
Serve
Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing it in half diagonally. Serve warm and enjoy your crab grilled cheese!
