Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide it into two equal portions and roll each out to form a pizza crust, about 12 inches in diameter.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Spread 1/2 cup of tomato sauce evenly over each crust. Tear fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute evenly over the sauce.

  4. 8

    Add Basil and Season

Tear fresh basil leaves and sprinkle over the cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  6. 10

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a couple of minutes, then slice and serve hot.
