Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water, add 1 tablespoon of salt, and bring it to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti in a colander.

Making Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Garlic

Add 4 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

  3. 6

    Add Tomato Sauce

Pour in 400 ml of canned tomato sauce and stir well to combine with the garlic.

  4. 7

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir well and let simmer for about 10 minutes.

  5. 8

    Add Fresh Basil

Stir in 1 cup of chopped fresh basil into the sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.

  2. 10

    Plate and Garnish

Serve the pasta hot, garnished with 100 grams of grated Parmesan cheese and a few fresh basil leaves on top.
