Prepare the Meatballs
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and form into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Brown the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Combine Ingredients
Add the crushed tomatoes, fresh basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.

Simmer the Sauce
Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cook the Pasta
While the sauce simmers, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Serve
Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked pasta. Top with grated parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
