Tart and Filling

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apple Filling

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Sauté until the apples are tender, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

Make the White Chocolate Crème Brûlée

In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it's just about to boil. Remove from heat and add the chopped white chocolate, stirring until melted. In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Slowly add the chocolate mixture to the yolks, whisking continuously. Pour the mixture into a tart shell and bake at 325°F (160°C) for about 25 minutes or until set. Let cool.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cinnamon Crumb Topping

In a bowl, combine flour, oats, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the stick of butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled white chocolate filling.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Tart

Layer the sautéed apples on top of the white chocolate filling and sprinkle the cinnamon crumb topping over the apples.

  5. 5

    Bake the Tart

Bake the assembled tart at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Allow the tart to cool slightly before serving. Cut into slices and serve with scoops of French Vanilla ice cream.
