Bread Pudding Base
Method
Bread Pudding Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Bread
Tear the day-old French bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
Combine Ingredients
Pour the wet mixture over the torn bread pieces. Gently fold the bread into the mixture until all pieces are thoroughly soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
Bake the Pudding
Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
Cool and Serve
Remove the bread pudding from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving. It can be served warm or at room temperature.
