Prepare the Cheese
Freeze the mozzarella cheese sticks for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from melting during frying.

Set Up Breading Station
In three separate shallow dishes, place flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and mix bread crumbs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in the third.

Fry the Cheese Sticks
In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot (about 350°F/175°C), fry the cheese sticks in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Cook the Marinara Sauce
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute). Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
