Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of Baldwin County grits and 1 teaspoon of salt. Reduce heat to low and stir occasionally, cooking for about 20-25 minutes until thickened. Stir in 2 tablespoons of butter before serving.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon or Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook 4 slices of bacon until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Alternatively, if using Conecuh sausage, cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Eggs

In the same skillet, crack 2 eggs and cook them to your liking (sunny side up, over easy, or scrambled), about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Toast the Bread

Toast 2 slices of bread until golden brown. Serve with jam or butter on the side.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Plate

On a plate, serve the cooked grits, topped with the eggs, bacon or sausage, and the toasted bread on the side.
