Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Oysters
Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water and shuck them carefully, discarding the top shell.
- 2
Make the Battering Mixture
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Batter the Oysters
Dip each shucked oyster first into the wet mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat with the dry batter mixture.
- 6
Fry the Oysters
Carefully add the battered oysters to the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- 7
Prepare the Fries
Fry the pub fries according to package instructions until crispy and golden brown.
- 8
Make the Coleslaw
In a bowl, combine coleslaw mix and coleslaw dressing. Toss until well coated.
- 9
Serve
Plate the fried oysters alongside the pub fries and coleslaw. Enjoy!
