Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Black Bean Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth. Leave some chunks for texture.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced green and red peppers, onion, and garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the sautéed vegetables to the mashed black beans. Stir in the cooked rice, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, egg, and bread crumbs. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

  5. 5

    Cook the Patties

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Cook the patties over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and heated through.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Place each patty on a burger bun and top with lettuce, sliced tomato, and avocado. Serve immediately.
