Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Ribeye

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with sea salt and black pepper.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over high heat until it is very hot.

  2. 3

    Add Oil

Add the vegetable oil to the hot skillet or grill, ensuring it evenly coats the surface.

  3. 4

    Sear the Ribeye

Place the ribeye steak in the skillet or on the grill. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it.

  4. 5

    Flip and Finish Cooking

Flip the steak using tongs and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness.

  5. 6

    Optional Baste

If desired, add butter and a sprig of fresh rosemary to the pan during the last minute of cooking. Baste the steak with the melted butter.

Resting

  1. 7

    Let the Steak Rest

Remove the ribeye from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
