Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second increments until smooth. Stir well.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and egg yolks until light and frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring continuously to combine. Be careful not to cook the eggs.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift in the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Gently fold the mixture until just combined.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute. Invert each ramekin onto a plate and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
