Preparation of Topping

Chop the Tomatoes
Wash and dice the fresh tomatoes into small cubes. Place them in a mixing bowl.

Prepare the Basil
Wash the basil leaves and pat them dry. Tear or chop them roughly and add to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Add Garlic
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Add the minced garlic to the bowl.

Season the Mixture
Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir everything together gently until well combined.

Slice the Baguette
Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices.

Toast the Bread
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Top the Toasts
Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato and basil mixture onto each slice of toasted bread.

Serve immediately while the bread is warm, garnished with additional basil if desired.
