Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the olive oil over both sides of the steaks. Generously season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, ensuring an even coating.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat until it's very hot.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steak

Once the pan is hot, place the steaks in the pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Flip the steaks using tongs and add fresh rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time based on your preferred doneness.

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the pan and transfer them to a plate. Cover loosely with foil and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Optional Side Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Asparagus

While the steak is resting, rinse the asparagus and trim the tough ends. Toss with salt and olive oil.

  2. 8

    Cook the Asparagus

In the same skillet used for the steak, add the asparagus and sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender.

  3. 9

    Prepare the Baby Potatoes

Boil baby potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and toss with butter.
