Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. If they are not already deveined, devein them by making a shallow cut along the back and removing the dark vein.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and mince them finely using a knife or garlic press.

  3. 3

    Chop the Parsley

Wash the parsley and chop it finely, discarding the thick stems.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half and juice one half, reserving the other half for garnish.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers.

  2. 6

    Sauté the Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 7

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink.

  4. 8

    Flip the Shrimp

Using tongs, flip the shrimp to the other side and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fully cooked and opaque.

  5. 9

    Add White Wine (Optional)

If using, pour the white wine into the skillet and allow it to simmer for 1-2 minutes.

  6. 10

    Finish with Lemon and Parsley

Remove the skillet from heat, squeeze the lemon juice over the shrimp, and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Toss gently to combine.

Serving

  1. 11

    Plate and Garnish

Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and additional parsley if desired.

  2. 12

    Serve

Serve the shrimp hot with your choice of sides, such as rice or a fresh salad.
