Cheese Sauce
Garlic Crumbs
Method
Cheese Sauce
- 1
Prepare the Roux
In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes until the mixture is golden and bubbly.
- 2
Add Milk
Gradually add the whole milk to the roux, whisking constantly to avoid any lumps. Continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- 3
Incorporate the Cheeses
Lower the heat and add the mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, gorgonzola, and fontina cheeses to the thickened sauce. Stir until all the cheeses are melted and the sauce is smooth.
- 4
Season the Sauce
Add the salt, black pepper, and grated nutmeg to the cheese sauce. Stir well to combine. Remove from heat and set aside.
Garlic Crumbs
- 5
Prepare the Garlic Crumbs
In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs, minced garlic, olive oil, chopped parsley, and salt until well combined.
- 6
Toast the Garlic Crumbs
Transfer the mixture to a skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 3-5 minutes until the crumbs are golden brown and fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
