Black Bean Patty (optional)

Toppings

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape them into burger patties.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the burger patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt.

Prepare the Black Bean Patty (optional)

  1. 4

    Mash the Beans

In a bowl, mash the canned black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.

  2. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add breadcrumbs, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and olive oil to the mashed beans. Mix until well combined.

  3. 6

    Shape the Patties

Form the mixture into four equal-sized patties.

  4. 7

    Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the black bean patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 8

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Lightly toast the burger buns on a skillet or grill until golden brown.

  2. 9

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, a slice of tomato, and pickles. Place your cooked burger or black bean patty on top.

  3. 10

    Finish with BBQ Sauce

Drizzle BBQ sauce over the patty and top with the other half of the bun.
