Ice Cream Base

Method

Making the Ice Cream Base

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Chill Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until it is thoroughly chilled.

  3. 3

    Churn the Ice Cream

Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically around 20-25 minutes, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

  4. 4

    Freeze the Ice Cream

Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

Making the Chocolate Syrup

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, water, and a pinch of salt.

  2. 6

    Cook the Syrup

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. 7

    Finish the Syrup

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the syrup to cool before serving.

Serving

  1. 8

    Scoop and Serve

Scoop the vanilla ice cream into bowls or cones and drizzle generously with the chocolate syrup. Enjoy your delicious homemade vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup!
