Chips

1. Prepare the Tortillas

Cut the corn tortillas into triangles to create chips.

2. Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

3. Fry the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla triangles to the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

4. Drain and Season

Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.

Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the cheeses have melted and the mixture is smooth.

Stir in the canned green chiles, garlic powder, onion powder, and chopped cilantro. Mix well to incorporate.

8. Add Jalapeños (Optional)

If desired, add sliced jalapeños to the queso for extra heat and flavor.

9. Serve Warm

Remove the queso from heat and transfer it to a serving bowl. Serve warm alongside the freshly made tortilla chips.
