Method

Preparation of Vegetables

  1. 1

    Prep the Vegetables

Wash and peel the carrot and sweet potato. Cut all vegetables (zucchini, carrot, sweet potato, and bell pepper) into thin fries, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

Making Tempura Batter

  1. 2

    Prepare the Tempura Batter

In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and baking powder. Gradually add cold water while stirring until the batter is smooth. Add a few ice cubes to keep the batter cool.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pot or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Coat and Fry Vegetables

Dip each vegetable fry into the tempura batter, allowing excess batter to drip off. Carefully place them into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.

Seasoning

  1. 5

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Serve the vegetable tempura fries immediately while they are hot and crispy. Enjoy with your choice of dipping sauce!
