Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Choose the Sake

Select your preferred type of sake; you can choose between Junmai, Ginjo, or Daiginjo based on your taste preference.

  2. 2

    Pour the Sake

Measure 500 ml of sake using a measuring cup and pour it into a sake pot or a small saucepan.

Heating (for Hot Sake)

  1. 3

    Heat the Sake

Place the sake pot or saucepan on the stove over low heat. Gently warm the sake, making sure not to boil it, for about 5-10 minutes. You can use a thermometer to ensure the temperature reaches around 130°F (54°C) for optimal hot sake.

  2. 4

    Serve the Hot Sake

Once heated, carefully pour the hot sake into small ceramic cups and serve immediately.

Serving (for Cold Sake)

  1. 5

    Chill the Sake

If you prefer cold sake, place the sake bottle in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.

  2. 6

    Serve the Cold Sake

Pour the chilled sake directly from the bottle into small cups and serve with ice if desired.

Optional Garnishing

  1. 7

    Prepare Garnishes

Chop green onions and fresh ginger, and if using, tear shiso leaves into smaller pieces.

  2. 8

    Add Garnishes

Add the chopped green onions, shiso leaves, or ginger to the sake cups for an extra flavor boost.
